Rathi Thiagarajan
Rathi Thiagarajan graduated in 2003 with a BSc in Biology (concentration Biotechnology and minor in Information Technology) from George Mason University, Virginia USA. She was then offered a bioinformatics internship position at the Protein Information Resource (PIR) group at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington DC in 2004. Also during this time, Rathi worked as a Research Associate at a biotech company called Transgenomic Inc., in Maryland. A year later, she headed to Australia where she collaborated with Professor Nikolai Petrovksy from Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide and Professor Vladimir Brusic of IMB and Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics (ACPFG) developing specialist bioinformatics databases. She's now a happy member of Group Grimmond as a PhD student working on phosphoregulators (protein kinases and phosphatises) and kidney development.
